Accounting
Understand the story behind your numbers
Clear books help business owners understand performance and respond to questions with confidence. Get support organising transactions, preparing accounts and maintaining useful financial information.
BEFORE WE BEGIN
Clear scope. Useful information. An agreed fee.
Your agreed deliverables
Accounting summaries, financial statements and supporting schedules as agreed, with a discussion of the figures and outstanding information.
What to share first
The accounting period, current system, approximate transaction volume and records available.
How your fee is determined
Transaction volume, record completeness, reporting complexity, frequency and any catch-up work.
We discuss your situation before confirming scope, required information, timing and a quotation. Additional work or third-party charges, where applicable, are identified separately and agreed before proceeding.
YOUR BUSINESS SITUATION
When this service can help
Records have built up over an accounting period
Invoices, receipts and transaction records need bringing together. Tell us the period, current system and condition of the records so we can discuss the work required to prepare useful accounting summaries.
Preparing for year-end or an external auditor’s questions
You need supporting schedules and accounting information for discussion. Explain what has been requested and what is already available. Accounting preparation supports that discussion; it does not provide an external audit opinion.
What to prepare for our first discussion
A useful starting point for your enquiry
- The accounting period and current record-keeping system
- An overview of invoices, receipts and transaction records available
- Any year-end schedules or information requests to coordinate
HOW WE WORK
From first conversation to follow-through
Start with your situation
Tell us the problem, relevant period and important dates. One main consultant gets to know your business and the matters to coordinate.
Agree scope and quotation
We clarify deliverables, the information needed, proposed timing and responsibilities, then agree the quotation before work begins.
Review the records together
We collect the agreed documents, follow up on missing information and discuss the relevant accounts, statements or computations with you.
Follow through on next steps
We progress the agreed work and coordinate information for the relevant parties. Where ongoing support is needed, we agree the follow-up arrangements.
PRACTICAL QUESTIONS
Practical answers before you get started
Use these answers to prepare for the first conversation. The work, fees and timing are confirmed for your circumstances.
Can I move from my existing accountant?
Yes, you can discuss a handover. Tell us the accounting period, current software, records available and outstanding work. We agree what needs to be obtained from the current provider and who is responsible before starting the transition.
Our bookkeeping is behind. Can you help us catch up?
You can enquire about catch-up work. Share the periods outstanding, approximate transaction volume and condition of the records. We identify missing information, discuss priorities and agree the scope, quotation and timetable. We cannot promise a completion date before reviewing the work.
Can one consultant coordinate several services?
Yes, discuss your wider needs with your main consultant, including accounting, tax, corporate secretarial, financing information or HR administration. We agree the individual assignments and coordinate with auditors, banks or other parties where needed. Responsibilities for an independent audit or another professional engagement are confirmed separately.
What do you need before giving a quotation?
Start with an overview of the business, relevant period, completeness of records, expected workload and important dates. We clarify the work and deliverables, then explain the quotation and any additional charges. Work begins according to the scope and fees agreed with you.
Can you take on urgent work?
Tell us the deadline, current progress and records available at the outset. We assess the work and availability before confirming whether we can help and the proposed timetable. Do not assume that work has started until the assignment has been accepted.
